hi, this golf engine is a 1.9 diesel, '96 car. From this photo can we establish whether 1.9 Na maybe 1.9 TD or 1.9TDI (1Z?)
would save me a journey if I could sort this in advance
cheers

No expert, but that looks like a mechanical fuel pump like on a aaz. ETDI's have a big black connector on the side of the pump? Can't see a MAF on it either, so I'd go for AAZ

Are you buying a AAZ?
Just from personal experience and 20/20 hindsight, i would stay jx (can still get recon lumps) or go straight to TDI. My AAZ was a good'un but i still found myself staring at the temp gauge all the time

me and Nick smuggled it out of france last month, still not sure what the plans are but couldn't really say no, after a long wait on the hard shoulder friday I was thinking I had made the wrong decision. Family love it and TBH it does offer a lot of camper but engine has issues, unsubstantiated as yet, poss head gasket which i knew about anyway so not that stressed, thinking AAZ would offer a bit extra

Black smokies not a major problem...but a wobbly front pulley could be.
