Advice on Windscreen Replacement Please

I am hoping some of you may be able to give some advice on the best way to organise a windscreen replacement.

Last summer I had a chip in my windscreen repaired, I went through my insurance (JK Insurance) but had to pay something like £30 for it.
I went to the van yesterday and found a crack running through the chip, about 18" length with the chip almost perfectly central.
The crack is horizontal, in the middle of the screen about 4" from the bottom.

1. I assume that a crack of this size cannot be repaired, does anyone know for sure?
2. I haven't checked my windscreen excess but I think it's around £100. Do I have any cause for complaint as the chip had been repaired?
3. Are new screens available and are they of a decent quality?
4. From reading up on here I know that seals vary in fit and quality. Do you think I have any chance of ensuring I get a decent seal if I make a claim, or am I stuck with whatever the fitter brings with him?

Any advice or comments on any of the above greatly appreciated

Contact the company that repaired the chip, some of them will replace the screen free of charge if their previous repair has failed.

IIRC was about £114 for a top tint screen a few weeks back and was Pilkington so no issues with fit (unlike the 'unbranded' screen that was 2 or 3 mm wider between horizontal edges)

Whilst fitting the above screen ended up using a genuine seal, both JK and Heritage wouldnt work/fit.

Decent glass and OE seal and screen fell in, one person with a cord took 3 or 4 minutes. :ok

Many thanks guys, this is what I feared.

Does this mean that I should not try and claim for this if I want a decent screen and seal?
I quite like the idea of a top tint - can you recommend suppliers of good glass and seals?

Thanks for the help.
