After a nice long bank holiday weekend down to Cornwall my 2.1 mv syncro (i wrongly said i had a DJ in my last post) i managed an average of 26.8 mpg on the motorways, and an overall average of 24.6 over the 1000km i drove,

i was actually expecting it to be lot worse! most of the time i was cruising at 65, but also spent a lot of time going up and down the slow, steep coastal roads. I only had one passenger but we took quite a lot of kit

I know 25mpg is terrible really, but for the limited miles i do, and its massive do it all capability, i dont think its too bad!

i averaged 18mpg on a fully laden 4 adults and gear trip to switzerland.
i used some stp type injector cleaner stuff and started getting 22mpg which i thought was a great improvement. still shocking.
mines a DJ though.

Saving up for an LPG conversion. Won't help the MPG, but at least the cost will come down.

19 to 24 mpg on my old 2.1

well i have just bought a golf with an AHU etdi, a diesel bellhousing sump etc...
