clipping in panel van boards please help

hi there.

i have had this problem for some time, once the thermowrap goes on the back of the 3mm fibreboard, and then the carpet, the oem trim clips do not fit to hold the side panel boards up. is there any clips available or anyway to get these boards up in one piece for either side, without selftapping screws into the van body?

i think the factory did one piece boards for either side and also two pieces one for the arch piece and the window blank piece above it. the problem is that the holes for the clips are too far back where the window area is on the panel van, they're recessed. i can see that there's bigger holes, maybe i can put some dowelling in and self tap into the wood to hold the boards up? please advise!

i would be very grateful to pick the brains of someone who has conquered this! :D

:ok

Experiment with a variety of wall & plasterboard fixings, one of the expanding plugs might work when pushed into the original holes?

I played around with this a bit, it did work, but I went with self-tappers in the end.

No links, I just bought a handful of different types from my local DIY store and found some that fitted, think it was plasterboard plugs that did the job in the end? There are also a variety of expanding fixings that might work.
