Zig Unit problems in North Dorset!

Hi there, we are having problems with the zig unit / electrics internally in our converted camper... can anyone give anyone out there advise/help ? The leisure battery doesn't seem to be charging up properly and the LED lights in the zig unit don't come on, which seems to indicate it's not working properly. The internal lights, etc did work when we bought the camper 6 weeks ago but we have had problems since! We need someone with a bit of knowledge about campers & zig units to advise. I spoke to a local electrician but he's not too sure he can help... any ideas? Thanks

Thats a mighty big question
have you had a look here

Could be the battery itself ?
When your driving and zig is switched to tour keep the 12V on also to charge the battery.

the 12v switch only energises the outputs via the fuses; doesn't affect charging

Do you know what conversion it is? Do you know which Zig unit it is? Do you know if you have a separate split charge circuit?
The lack of LED illumination on the Zig (they come on when the 12v switch is on) would suggest either a ruptured fuse in the feed from the leisure battery to the Zig unit or the leisure battery's flat.

The Zig unit is a 'CF8 Caravan & Boat Battery Charging & Distribution System' according to the instruction leaflet made by Peter Everard Ltd, Stroud. I don't know if it has a separate split charge circuit or not. It may be a problem with the battery or fuse, I'll check in the morning & see. We did charged up the battery but it may not be holding it's charge. However, when battery was fully charged the LED lights still did not work (even with the 12 Volt switch on). Thanks for your help any way.

Er, back to basics... are you sure the leisure battery is wired into the zig in the first place? Trace the positive lead back and make sure it goes to the zig.
Do the interior lights now work with a fully charged battery? If not, is there a fuse inline with the battery? Checked fuse?
If the battery is charged, and is connected to the zig, and the inline fuse is okay, do the interior lights go on if you switch the 12v switch on the panel, and off if its turned off? If still no lights, check the panel fuses, if they're okay it may be the over current cutout/trip inside the panel, I think its suposed to reset itself, but may be knackered.
If the lights work and the its wired through the zig, and the little green led or red led doesnt light up, its probably just a dodgy control chip for the leds. The no charging bit is a whole new ballgame, but all of this would happen if yer battery aint connected to the zig, or the inline battery fuse or the current trip is knackered
