Cutting out on LPG

My newly acquired Syncro has a gassure conversion and has also just had a new engine.

I've only driven it on the new engine and when coming to a standstill OR if you leave it out of gear coasting along it cuts out.

I was told it didnt do this on the old lump.

Any thoughts?

Yes, phone us and book it in, much easier than a public forum and it might even get fixed :D

Ian my man what was the problem? living in scotland i don't have the option of popping round to steves. when i took it back to the guy who did my conversion his answer was to speed up the engine to tickover about 1500 rpm :x not much help :( finding out the best way to sort this problem would be a god send :D kev

I called Gassure south who advised me to turn a screw on the Vapouriser until the engine sounded more healthy at idle.

It idles at less than 1000rpm now with no cutting out.

Howdoo Ian,
going off the point slightly, but i'm sure i remember reading on this forum somewhere that it's not a good idea to run-in a new or rebuilt engine on L.P.G. and best to keep it on petrol for a good few hundred miles, or is yours run in now, i'm having to run in my rebuilt eng. at the moment but i'll stay off the gas till after the oil and filter change at 500 miles i think, bit annoying as its costing more, and i hate paying up for petrol! hope you manage to sort it mate, Wasserleaker.

It had its new engine for a good 500 miles before i bought it. Pretty sure it had been run in on LPG though with no recommendations from the fitter.

This pipe was already off mine hence the tweak on the vapouriser

turned the screw on the vaporiser clockwise until closed then turned the black thing ontop of the vaporiser clockwise until the engine began to struggle, turned the screw anti-clockwise one full turn then turned the black knob anti-clockwise until the van idled about 1000prm. sorted my problem(backfiring and cutting out) but i think it's a matter of finding the mix that works for your own van
