Aired this in the alternative engine forum but probably best here,

Hi all
Have an issue with the above. Started this morning no problems moved it back 20 feet came out 20 minutes later and found the engine turns over and over before it will start in a puff of black smoke. No issues before this. Will hot start ok. Glow plug lights coming on when cold and staying on for 12 seconds but still turns over and over until eventually starts
Checked electrical connections all seems in order. Cant see through the tubes that its sucking in air from fuel lines. New filter about 1 week ago.
Any ideas anyone? Many thanks

Sounds like glow plugs, have you got a non return valve fitted? a lot of us diesel owners fit them it stops fuel running back to the pump worth looking at as well.

Have traced to the 50amp fuse in the lunch box, which was burnt out. I think this was maybe because a wiring junction was pressing against it. The dash light was coming on which threw me.
