Probably best person to speak to would be David Marshall who is your side of the lake at fastforward.ca. http://www.fastforward.ca/contact.shtml

He has imported syncros to canada and may have a view on the issus around them and particularly a 16" version.

16" Westys are rarer than an Irish Unicorn; and really dont come up for sale often anyway so you may have a long wait unless you buy Pauls. There are rumoured to be between ten and twenty of them out there, somewhere.

compared to the gowesty prices it's a steal, and considering that andrew (syncropaddy) who is a stickler for originally only complained that the wheel carrier bolts wee different to his, speaks volumes to me.

Ok. I was in a very similar situation a few years back. Having a 16" syncro and a 2wd westy I decided to sell both and buy a genuine 16" westy. They are very very rare. Failing to even find leads to one i decided to make one myself buy converting the 16" to westy spec. There are still some westy parts I cannot source. It would have been much easier to syncro a 2wd westy. Hey, you live and learn. I recently priced up a new build. 2wd westy and 14" syncro Doner syncro including rebuild of mechanicals and allowance for bodywork. I'm at £25k ATM and that's with me doing all the work myself bar the transmission work which I'd get Aidan to do.

Hope that helps a little.
