a little help

My brother has a leak on his 87 1.9 DG.
It seems to be coming from a plastic pipe on the right side (looking from the back).
Before I pull it apart and lose all the coolant has any body else had this problem or know the part number for the gasket or O ring.
I'm hoping that is all it is but any help would be gratefully recieved.
Rob.

Rob
sorry I couldn't stay in Surrey longer on Monday I didn't get back till after 8 as it was, 20 hour day with 500 miles on 4 hours sleep
the gasket for that pipe is obsolete, you can fairly easily make one if required, the plastic pipe is prone to cracking around the bolt holes, the pipe is obsolete from VW, but may be available from Classic/heritage 025 121 171
Ian will take a look at the weepy difflock for me and replace the o ring if you can arrange to pop over to him sometime mutually convenient

He's a Londoner! Lives inside the tarmac moat
That's the part Rob, I think I've got a good plastic one somewhere, seals with an O-ring. Binned a duff one other day, probably have a good syncro-spec (steel) one at home.

Making the decision to go 'plastic' was not VW's finest hour... but then again, alot of their aluminium housings were also prone to corrosion issues (mainly down to poor coolant service by the customer).
Typically these plastic housings 'distort'. Sometimes they can be re-used after re-facing on a flat surface.

All sorted, ordered the pipe from Brickwerks £20 less than from Heritage.
Sadly had to order the gasket from Heritage, wait for it £9.99 delivered.

bloody rip off that place.
