New Forest Stop Off?

We are starting our journey travelling from the Midlands to Lymington to catch the ferry to the IOW early in the morning of Sunday 2nd Sept. We don't sail until 10.35pm and would appreciate any tips of a nice spot to make a stop off in the New Forest. We want to spend a few hours chilling out, having bite to eat & walking the dogs before the final push to the port to catch our ferry. Any sugestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks

If you are driving through the forest to Lymington, Hatchet Pond is a good spot and on your route. there's plenty of parking, always lots of ponies there and the pond is good for a walk.

Just got back from the New Forest yesterday - it was fab!
The New Forest Reptile Centre is good for a couple of hours and FOC after you pay the £2 to park. Also, Boscombe Beach near Christchurch was fantasticn(although £11 to park right on the sands edge)! Lepe Beach is close enough to see the Island and quiet, although pebble beach, and failing that, just make sure you're inside the Forest cattle grids, and find a pull in next to a herd of ponies! Theyre cool, if not a little surreal seeing them!
Boscombe
Lepe
And finally those Ponies!
Have fun!!

Hi
We are not sailing until the Sunday night and we would have loved to meet up on the Saturday. Sorry we cannot make it, but we are going to a suprise family gathering arranged for Phil's Mum, as it is her birthday.
Thanks again and maybe will will be able to make it another time, if we come down to spend a little more time in the area.
