Floor protection on driver's side

Anyone know what the protection on the floor is under the pedals? Mine is all cracked and coming away from the floorpan.

I think its just a bitumen sheet. You can get similar stuff from woolies.

good stuff from them but megga expensive!!! Get all of what you can off the floor and wang some flash banding on it, its just as good as proper sound deadening stuff, available form and decent diy/builders merchants!

What was the point of doing that tiny bit? Surely it would've made more sense to cover the whole area?

Hi James,
from the little I understand, the flash banding stops the metal sheet resonating so it doesn't have to be across the whole floor. (It's a bit like flicking a wine glass. If you put a finger against the glass you don't get the nice "ting" sound. I knew if I related it to glasses of wine you'd understand !) That said, if you are buying a roll of it you might has well put it across a number of areas.
While at it I also put some of the "bubblewrap" silver type insulation down across the floor area (again from B&Q) to try and keep my toes warm in the winter.

better of using the insulation out of a caravelle so if it ever gets wet it can be removed the tar boarding holds damp which can rot your floor
