Camping Club - Amazing value!

Went for an overnight stop at the Clent Hills Camping Club site yesterday to meet friends. I booked for a basic grass pitch with no hookup for one occupant. The price for the pitch came to £16.45 which I didn't consider unreasonable.

Whilst signing in at reception I enquired about membership, which is £40 per year. I then enquired as to what my pitch fee would be if I was a member.

By knocking off the non-member pitch fee and claiming golden-oldie concession (valid for 55 years+) I ended up paying £6.55 !!!

This was a reduction of £9.90 on a single night stay. Even my elementary maths skills tells me that the membership fee is recovered in just 4 nights stay.

I believe that I will be frequenting Camping Club sites more often now.

(The friends I went to see did not feel the value was as good as there were two younger adults on a hard standing pitch with electric so it cost them £22.50 per night)

It's great to be old, single and willing to rough it a bit! :rofl

I stayed on a Camping Club site last week, another of their small "certified" sites, this one had only 5 pitches, EHU and toilet. £7.50 a night and tropical sunshine in the mix too :D Considering stopping over at services to break a journey would cost a tenner a night you really can't grumble.

Can't reccomend the Camping & Caravan Club enough. We were put on to the club about 7 years ago when we first got the van. Always use the CL sites unless we are wild camping. They are all over the country and cheap as chips. I'll bet we have saved hundreds if not thousands over the years.

They also have temporary holiday sites which are usually around £7 per unit. You'll stick out a bit if you haven't got a shiny white motorhome but well worth it. Also I only recently found out Mountain Warehouse (camping clothes and equipment chain) will give you a discount with membership. I only found this out when I overheard a caravan club member asking if he'd get a discount and he was told he'd get 10%, so I asked and was told I'd get 15% off as a C&CC member. I did feel a bit smug.
