Hi.
Never owned a Van with a 240v hook up before, and I've never used 240 in a vehicle !!
Ronnie came home a week ago, and under the rear reg plate flap, is the connector for the 240v hook up....
I've traced the cable, which appears to be a pretty heavy duty type in orange, to what looks like a simple 4 plug extension block.

I can find no trace at all of any RCD / consumer unit - it's just this one lead ...

Now - Is this safe / can I use it ?? or shall I get a proper set-up with all the units and plug sockets installed ??

I've not got a fridge to power, its just for a little T.V/ DVD on rainy nights, and maybe my hairdryer and I'm thinking possibly light ??

The hook up points on sites have RCDs fitted but you should have your own in the van as well really. A small 2 way circuit breaker consumer unit with incoming double pole RCD switch is fitted after the hook up plug most commonly and sockets wired out of that via the circuit breakers.

Or I think you can get RCD controlled 4 way extension socket affairs these days for use in tents. The consumer unit approach is the more versatile and most durable though.
