Hi, I we are looking to buy our first Camper and have decided the T25/T3 are our favourites, we have found one we like but have some concerns and would like some advice from you experts, the van we are looking at is a 1987 high top water cooled van, the bodyword is pretty sound and original, has a short MOT but no tax, approx 95k miles, it is currently jumping out of second gear, could anyone please advise on what it's value is in it's current state and also what the problem may be? Many thanks in advance.

Well even the experts on here will need a lot more detail than that - best bet may be to give an idea where you are and maybe one of the kind folk on here can take a look over it...

Value is what someone is prepared to pay for it - some folk think I'm nuts for what i paid for mine, others think I got a bargain...in the long run running / maintenance / bodywork / improvement costs will likely outweigh the purchase price anyway...

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the value is very subjective I just hoped some people on here with more experience may be able to give an idea, also what the fault with 2nd gear may be? The van is a 2litre petrol right hand drive, many thanks.

that'll will be a 1.9 or 2.1 petrol - very different gear boxes and value. Gear box sounds goosed - jumping out of gear is usually an internal problem.
Consider petrol vans also cost a lot in fuel.
Valueing it is asking how longs a piece of string. The bodywork may look ok - fine and original and all that - but these vans are notorious for hiding rust - in fact they can almost rust from the inside out. Then theres the state of the brakes, suspension, interior etc etc etc etc
T25s seem to go for 4-6k average condition - 6k + for good to prisitine, 2-4k not so great and less than 2k be prepared for a project - thats extremely ball park - but so is your question.

The value also depends on the conversion - a popular conversion like a Westfalia or Autohomes is likely to be worth more than a home brew camper.

As for gears, the gear linkage has been an ongoing issue on my van - it hasn't taken much to repair it but it's been a bugger when it goes as I've lost gears. The whole thing's going to be sorted next month. I'm not sure whether this is the issue with the one you're looking at, but if it is, I believe it's fairly common.

then is it 1.9 or 2.1 if your lucky?
then read the wiki ^^^^^ and post a few pickies with details.
when youve given enough info then a reasonable estimate can be given , if you are not able to then its worth 1K unseen
