Hi there, just bought an original swivel base off fleabay (or part of one

), and fund that it's been sent without the very bottom base plate...
I received these:
But I'm pretty sure that I need a 3rd part, a smaller square base plate that is either welded or bolted to the current runners on the van. Is this correct?
The underside:
Is there anything I can do other than return it and ask for my money back?
Cheers

Yep there's definately a bit missing. Make a claim with paypal saying the item is incomplete.

Just a heads up for you on your future swivel seat search
there also should be four plastic guide piece parts (part 20b on pic above) that sit in the swivel groove of the part you are missing. It helps the large part you have to swivel easier and not wobble. Sadly they are no longer made so if you source another one make sure they are not missing as they often are
Here is a pic showing the plate you are missing and where the 4 guide pieces sit

I think silverbullet on here remade all the guide in nylon for about £30 for a set (8 in all with 4 others that are attached to the 2nd piece you show in your pic)

Thanks Cruz. Contacted seller and he's now refusing to refund, stating that it's usable as now and that it fitted in his bay van. I think he genuinely didnt realise that this mounting plate was missing, but can't understand why he wont refund me now that he knows it's an incompete item?! It was listed as "used but in full working order" in the description, but it wouldn't work without the plate! I've opened up a case on ebay and hopefully he'll change his mind and understand that it was incorrectly listed.

i have seen lots of these sold on ebay and other forums in this way.
it comes from people just undoing the bolts and presuming the welded part is part of the van , or they find it too difficult to cut out.
its more likely he bought it as is , found the same thing and sold it on!

Hopefully you can get your money back via paypal
The base plate is now NLA from VW in the UK (was £65) but is available from VW Classic Parts in Germany for roughly £91 (can be ordered via emailing brickwersk or through the classic link on the vw heritage website.
251-801-296-B
However you will still need the 8 guide pieces and they are NLA worldwide but have been remade by silversullet and are available for a further £45+post. Chances are even a complete swivel base will be missing some of these pieces anyway especially 251-881-320.
