Clutch noise

Just had a tdi conversion. It's fitted using a Kennedy adaptor. Clutch is a 2.1.
When I change down the box, there is a loud scraping noise if I gently ease off the clutch. It doesn't happen if I let it out quick or if I change up.
Any suggestions on what this could be?

Please tell me that a spigot bearing was fitted to the donor engine ? Otherwise it could be the input shaft and the oil thrower running together
strange that it's only on the way down the box though, very odd one that
I only know of one other Kennedy adapted installation in the uk, and that was fine out of the box, the whole package looked great and was well engineered

Apparently new bearing fitted.
Also clutch biting point is right near the carpet.
Will try bleeding it to see if that alters the biting point. Then get the other half to drive it whilst I listen by the engine with the lid off.

Just been out for another spin, there's definately something very wrong. All sorts of scraping and chattering noises whenever you press the clutch pedal right down. Forget what I said earlier about only doing it when changing down. It's all the time. I'm seriously miffed. Another holiday missed:-(

No way I can drive it the 180 miles back. He'll have to come and collect it.

Hope it's sorted soon for you, feel your pain with the missed holidays.. i missed a fair few. I go away saturday, 3000 odd miles by the time i get back, hopefully driving the van and not on a recovery truck
Did it not do it when you picked it up then?

Thanks for the info guys.
Lloyd, it was fine when I left, except the biting point was really low.
Going to Spain tomorrow for a week, having to take the car instead.
Van is being collected early next week, hoping for it to be fixed for our 2nd week off down in Dorset/Devon.

Well, turned out to be a failed spigot bearing. Allegedly caused by a badly worn input shaft. Not sure how it wore out so quick. Also amazed that it wasn't checked before the engine was put in. Seriously not happy.

Just an update. Anybody doing an upright install using the Kennedy adaptor plate and the wbx bellhousing should be aware that the WBx input shaft should be swapped for a diesel one as its 11 mm shorter.

Blimey, that's a bit of a biggie. Weird too as the yanks don't really do diesel, where's a typical US purchaser of a Vanagon Kennedy kit going to get a TD input shaft ? They really should have included it in the kit.. Disappointing from a company which has a pretty good rep..
E D I T: A quick google suggests the instructions included in the KEP kit say to reduce the length of the WBX input shaft by 3/4", so I take back what I said above....

Just hope the input shaft ramming up against the crank hasn't caused any damage.

And dare I ask who fitted it all?....
E D I T....worked that out now....the upright tdi, stuff goes in one ear and out the other.
