Petrol / Diesel gearbox bolt pattern

Hi

Been reading a few articles on engine conversions and folks getting diesel bellhousings for TDi conversions. Does this mean that diesel engines and petrol engines use a different bolt pattern?

I have a Pug engine on an auto box but would like to replace it with a TDi as its badly worn. Now concerned that its not going to fit against a diesel engine easily.

Thanks
Felix

Yes.
The Diesel bell housing has the same bolt pattern as numerous other VW engines including the TDi.

The Pug engine will be fitted using an adaptor to the auto box.
The TDi would have to be fitted the same way but with a different adaptor.
