Front outer boot, temporary repair

Just about to set off for Devon meet and notice my outer boot has split away completely,
was fine when I did the ball joints recently, its the clear plastic, slightly harder kind.
As the van is booked into SyncroSpares tomorrow morning for the idle speed,
I'm hoping they will have an old one they can put on, they dont have a new one..
Is there a temporary repair anyone uses?
This is not good news at the beginning of a long journey..
Any other ideas?

You can get away with taping and cabletyeing plastic bag around it to keep out the dirt as a temporary measure but prob not the best for serious offroading

Would you say remove whats left of the old one first or put bag on top of the old boot?

Too late to catch the post now else I'd have offered to send one of my old ones to get you out of a hole. Bit surprising Syncrospares don't keep such a basic spare on the shelf and they couldn't get one given 24hrs notice ?

Sorted thanks.

I bagged it and test drove it, seems fine,
got a call from Axeman, camping nearby, with a range of spares, and nipped over to him to pick one up.

To answer for Syncrospares they already told me some time ago that they were easing back on the spares side of the business,
and concentrating on specialist builds.

They do normally keep the boots in stock but used them end of last week.

Big thanks to everyone and looking forward to Devon meet.
