Petrol to diesel conversion

Hi all.
Almost there with my tdi install, but wondered about battery placement.
At the minute, my battery is still under the seat. There's no starting issues, but vw must've put the diesel battery in the engine bay for a good reason. I want to keep mine under the seat, but I'm thinking It would be a good idea to put a much bigger wire in. What size should I be looking at?
Cheers

Hi mate, VW put it the engine bay to minimize voltage drop. Is yours under the front seat? or rear? Either way, you will most likely have to increase the cable size. Bigger is better as they say  You can buy welding cable a lot cheaper than dedicated auto cable. I reckon you would be ok with 35mm2, probably a bit oversized but it won't hurt.
Van nearly ready then?

2.1 petrol battery cable front to rear is much bigger than the 1.9 or Aircooled lead.

i ran my pug diesel with battery under seat , that still had the 1.9 cable and had no probs for years

have now put it in engine bay just to create more space inside the van!

My 2.1 petrol to 1.9 diesel still has the battery under the seat. Though I will say the starter does sound lazy.
