Sterling Charger Advise

I have bought myself a Sterling Alternator to Battery charger of the old eBay.
I am fitting it to my villa 3 petrol syncro.
I have fitted the unit under the rear seat/bed next to my LPG tank.
I am using some old ex AA jump leads for my cabling 10mm dia, I have run my first cable from alternator to sterling about 1m.
I can then either try to run a cable to the vehicle battery under the front seat, a long way. Or take the cable to the starter. On a petrol vehicle the original wiring goes from alternator to starter to battery.
I intend to take the existing writing off the alternator and insulate, then I can reconnect if required.
Do I remove all the wires, I assume the large cable goes to starter, not sure where others go.

Anyone else fitted one to a petrol or advise.

going by the drawings for an alternator to battery charger, you need a dedicated cable to leisure battery, starter battery and alternator
you can download a drawing from here http://www.sterling-power.com/downloads.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
they will send you a manual if you ask them. Most people who fit these end up having to run 75mm2 cable, especially if you go by the manual
