Horrible Rattle!

Hi everybody!
I have just purchased a t3 2.1 injection Caravelle which is lovely in nearly every respect except for a strange engine rattle, At least i think its from the engine!
it sounds very much like a bottom end rattle but only makes itself known when the engine is warm under light throttle conditions.
occasionally it will be apparent at idle but the dissapear, and is at its loudest if the engine is reved slightly then the throttle release with no load on it.
Durring driving it you can hear it when cruising on a light throttle and the sound can be made t dissapear by slighty applying pressure to the pedal or releasing it slightly?
Anyone else had this issue
Cheers, Stu.

Ummm, "rattle" not "knocking sound" if this subtle difference in noise descriptions makes sense to you, then if = "rattle" = unlikely to be bottom end.

A "rattle" that comes or goes with loading could be little ends but that is not at all common on these engines. The first thing I would do is find a garage that you can trust and get the oil pressure checked = quick, cheap and will tell you if you have any major problems in the bottom end.

It could be related to the exhaust system and wobbly engine mounts ? Perhaps some experienced T25 owner local to you might offer to have a listen ? Reading your post again it does lead me to think "loose baffle in the silencer" perhaps ?

Definately more a knock than "rattle", Read through the wiki last night and realised i should be running 98 Ron fuel.... Oppps! Have topped up the other half of the tank with Vpower and some octane booster, Sounds a little better? Gonna get the timing light oit when i get to work on thursday!

Nah, you say it is worst on light load, so it ain't going to be that sort of knocking, that happens much worse when under load.
