Hi im in the market to buy a T25 and am going to look at two this week, both are hi tops and in lovely condition, my question is this, one is a 1.6 turbo diesel while the other has a 1.9 Diesel golf engine, non turbo professionally fitted about 10 years ago, which engine would you go for, considering both T25's are in similar condition. really just wanna be sure before splashing out the cash, would the 1.9 diesel have better fuel economy than the 1.6td would the lack of turbo in the 1.9 d make much of a difference? im a noob when it comes to this type of stuff, thanks in advance!

1.6td. Not much in it apart from the turbo is slightly more powerful iirc. Plus, you will then have all the parts you need to put a 1.9 TD in.

if the 1.6 td is a good engine then id go with that, but if its a little tried (most are now) then id only buy it so you have all the parts and before using it have an AHU or 1Z fitted

As^^^phil says, but my personal pref would be the 1.9 non turbo, less to go wrong and performance about the same -ish

Thanks for the replies, im looking at the two T25 campers tomorrow, one as i said has the the 1.9 non turbo golf engined in it, and the other has the original 1.6turbo diesel engine in it, so are the turbos expensive to remedy if they go wrong.. less hassle the better :)
Thanks again!

Check what gearbox the 1.9D is running.
If it's the original 1.6 or 1.7D box it's not well suited to the 1.9 and it'll be revving out at low speed, you'll know when you test drive it.
