Calculated road speed pulse

I am working on the electrics of my missus' 1983 van, anyway we are looking at fitting a head-unit, which has external extra add-ons like sat nav and cd multi-changer.
My question is -
I understand that there are ABS configured vans, and just wondering how many "teeth" are on the toothed ring for the ABS.
I am looking at using the ABS square-wave pulses to drive the dead-reckoning system on the head-unit.
Many of these aftermarket systems used 29 teeth per rpm. Just wondered if the VW T25 had a similar number.
Also - I assume the ABS equipped CV joints / wheel hubs from the later ABS vehicles will fit the earlier models
I am going to be doing a total re-wire, so considering whatever extra wires and sensors need to be built into the looming whilst everything is stripped-out, cleaned, repaired, improved on and then re-assembled.
