Nice work on the van Sid, and some good pictures of Omaha, I'll probably be boring people with my pics in a couple of weeks time. Rob

Wow, thanks Jed that really means something coming from you mate. The picture of the van at Omaha reminds me of this Dutch guy who came and parked opposite me in a ex military T25, he asked me if mine was a synchro as it stands tall??? I replied "I wish"!!
The Dutch guy told me that he bought his ex mil van from a surplus auction and it transpired that it had been in the same unit he had served with in the late 80's ....... amazing!!

We camped just outside Bayeux...had to drive almost through the British cemtery there most days, which tbh was a strange and sad feeling...

I have a relative in the Bayeux war cemetary, we laid a tribute for him on the morning of 6th June this year.
Here we are flying the flag including the St Pirans cross of Cornwall ...........

Yes Omaha is, as are all the big cemetaries, a very sobering experience. I particularly like the spirit of American youth statue at the Omaha site. You really need to visit the beaches during the period of 5th,6th,7th of June as it all kicks off then. So many re-enactment groups around that you feel you have stepped back in time to 1944!!
