I just have to fit this seat...

...jump seat from a Nimrod MR2. Weighs rather a lot (50kg+) but a lot of that is in the base plate and leg. I'll just be using the top bit - it has built in rails and adjusts every which way. It also swivels but due to my interior layout that won't really be an option for me sadly.

Er, long story, first you buy an ex-RAF Nimrod (well, Nimrod simualator in my case but it's the same cockpit...)...

Once you take the base off, is there much worth having? Its unique certainly but what features does the seat have once thats removed, or are you planning to use it as a buddy seat?

Can't decide yet - I do need a buddy seat but was going to build a box based one for extra storage (OK I admit it as a subwoofer enclosure). With the base removed it still gives me more adjustment than my current seat, is a bit more comfortable and has armrests. It's more a case of 'because I can' (or 'because I might be able to...'). It happens to match my interior perfectly as well (from which you can work out i have a very conservative interior!).

Surprisingly, no evidence of the same duct tape used to keep the plane together :rofl

Judging from your location I suspect some specialist knowledge...
