Headlining Roof Lining Advise Please

Hello Everyone,
I have a 1983 Caravelle which has been pretty molested during the last ownership
.
It currently has been badly "Home Campered" which I am in the process of taking out and it has a made up headlining which is made of a black fleece type material which simply has got to come out as it looks too dark grim inside and I intend to bring some spark back to this poor little Caravelles life.
My issue is that i've been all over this site and the internet looking for comparables and inspiration for different types of roof lining and i now cant really make my mind up as to what to do.
Honestly its keeping me awake at night, Please Helllp I need to sleep......................
As i'm still learning and still very GREEN I thought you guys might be able to help make my mind up and advise me on any possible advantages and disadvantages either way.
I intend to have a day van type of affair with a recently purchased bluestar full width bed and the caravelle twin middle seats which i can remove or put in when required.
I want to add one of those sterling chargers someone posted on here and a compressor fridge everything I have learnt is down to this site and the majority of my inspiration will be down to this site.......I know you wont let me down....

Headlining really is your choice but given the fact that the windows need to come out to fit it properly you'd be do well to fit similar material. However, whats the body like underneath. If its not great around windows under the rubbers you'll have all that to contend with. Then theres the issue of window rubbers - and the cost.
If you're determined to have it all in good order, start with the body otherwise everything else will be short-lived.

Hi there, Yeah i guessed after reading most posts i would have to remove if im fitting the headlining.....
Will i need to remove the windows if i'm fitting carpet? And i guess they are a pain in the butt to refit?
As to the bodywork it seems pretty good to be honest some slight seem rust bit otherwise pretty good I will be fixing everything as it arrises anyway as a matter of course and when funds will allow of course. I was thinking if i need to remove the windows i was going to replace the rubbers i think they are £160.00 for the lot which is a huge wedge of dough but if they are needed then it has to be done...... The cost of the doors are unbelieveable....

I'm in a similar situation and I've decided to put a proper headliner in the cab area (£50) and carpet the rear with a light coloured carpet material (haven't got the carpet yet)

Ok that sounds like a good idea .... Are you going for megavan mats streatch carpet or something like that?

Yeah something like that... haven't researched the carpet yet to be honest.

WOW your resto is impressive mate, I'm not far from you in Sheppey... I'm more of a have a go merchant but i wanted to try really hard with this one which is why i'm not rushing it just thinking everything through putting it on here getting feedback and reading threads etc.

One Question, Do you think that i would get issues with condensation mould mildue, etc if i went straight to the metal on a tin top roof?

I would think that you would, yes. I say that because all panel vans will attract moisture through condensation
so I would imagine that you would soon begin to get mould forming somewhere, or the lining carpet beginning to come unstuck, etc
Sheppy: Spent many happy hours there on holiday as a lad, in my parents caravan, which was sited at Eastchurch.
