Rear VW badge fitting

Hi all
Just a quick question. Having just finished having the van resprayed I thought I would treat it to a new rear VW badge so purchased one from JK along with new fixing clips. Only I cant seem to get the badge far enough into the clips for it to hold
Tonight I wired in two towing sockets, installed window seals, several new as well as door seals, all no issues but a badge with only a couple of fixing pionts and grommets for these to fix to, well I gave up in the end
Its late, I'm baffled and more than likely missing something  , clearly.
Any ideas?

Jamie

The badge sits on a circular rubber 'mat' and three prongs poke though this and the actual tailgate. You should have three female studs (like the wide bit on a metal rivet) that slide over the prongs inside the tailgate locking it and the rubber mat in position.

Hi 1664
Thanks for the reply
I understand exactly what your saying as its just like every other badge I've had but it doesnt seem to be holding in the grommets or as it feels like its unable to be pushed in far enough to catch. Its almost as though the badge is in place touching the bodywork lightly before it can be pushed home. I even tried the grommets/holders from a Transporter badge, but same thing.
Just thought I would check if its just me in case maybe its common thing, but must say I've not had it before. Also the rubber base seems thicker than I remember and its a lot more rigid as well. I even tried soaking it in hot water, nut didnt want to go too mad trying to force it on.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow it will just fit straight on.
Cheers for the help
Jamie

JK does have a rather unfortunate 'reputation' for selling stuff that doesn't quite fit

Thanks 1664
I got it fitted yesterday, finally.
I ended up putting a slight 'nick' across the prongs where they already have a line across them where they catch in the grommets, basically just cleaned them up. I also left the grommets just slightly proud then pushed everything together at once.
Seems to have worked and everything is solid but time will tell
It is so far the only thing thats been a problem which is not bad after stripping it down for painting and now putting it back together. (touch wood)
It is a panel van though, so I dont have too many windows to put back
