Hello,

I'm very sorry........

But my crystal ball in in for re polishing.

Please go into a little more detail, type of engine.... :?:

What did it replace.... :?:

What was done to the donor engine before fitting.... :?:

Little details like that

A few photos , or even a video is good,

Cordialement,

its a cj coded engine.

it replaced a 1600 ct engine (rubbish).

nothing was done to the donor it was put staight in as it was .

sorry for the lack of info as never worked on engine's much ,trying to muddle through as on a very tight budget ,
so trying to do the work myself

cheers lee

Got oil?

Got oil pressure?

Might sound like stating the obvious, but that's where I'd start.

did you put the airbox on straightaway after it was run , or did you leave it overnight then fit the airbox if its the latter its probably a lazy hydraulic lifter what just needs the engine running longer to build up pressure in the hydraulic tappet

it might be your carb popping,my carbs were back firing a small bit and it sounded like she was knocking.check for air leaks.if any of the vac hoses are old replace them and if its twin carbs it might need to be balanced otherwise might be a bit of piston slap.

If its this a wee drive will get the pressure up, worked for me.

Tappet rattle, especially if its stood for a long time....cross your fingers and run it up should stop after a while but could take a good while
