I have two weeks booked off in August and we are planning to hit the road in the camper. We will be setting off from Manchester and I am looking for some ideas which direction to head. We have to boys aged 4 & 6 so so ideally an area with something for the boys. Come on guys inspire me!

how about a ride through the peak district, perhaps stop to go down the mines in castleton. On to Leicestershire to the national Space Centre and then off to the North Norfolk coast, for seal watching, cycling, steam train rides, sitting on deserted beaches eating local crab, crabbing at Wells Next the Sea, Cromer Peir, and drive round to Great Yarmouth for traditional Seaside fun.
Head back via, Norwich for a bit of retail therapy, bike riding in Thetford Forest, across the fens with the BIG skys and perhaps back up through Robin Hood country?
Just an idea. If you decide to go for it let meknow and I'll fill in the details with recommended sites etc.

Pembroke's somewhere I only discovered relatively recently and it's fabulous. We head down to Stackpole and the beaches around there are out of this world - Broadhaven beach and Barafundle Bay really do deserve the term the "Welsh Caribbean". Heading down from Manchester you can go across Wales too, stopping off en route amongst some fabulous scenery.
If you fancy the other direction altogether, Northumberland would be my next choice, generally unspoilt, lovely beaches, quaint fishing villages and great scenery.

Oooh yeah. Don't tell everyone about Pembrokeshire though. It's the scenary of Corwall without the crouds and kiss me quick hats. Definently a favourite place to go. Folly Farm is a great day out for the kids and adults with real traditional fair rides as well.
Northumberland is on my list of must see places. Trouble is from East Anglia its so far to travel but one day we'll get there.
