Hi again. I have a 2l t25 1980 air cooled. I know I have a oil leak which needs sorting. I top it up on every trip. But the prib I have is that she is driving very well. But after about 30 mins driving. If I come to a stop. The oil light comes on. Only happen when she is stopped. If I rev her the light goes off. It never comes on when moving. Any ideas? Thanks

You have a leak, so when idling it's registering low pressure?

red lights mean stop...
so when it's on the pressure is not enough to protect the mains and lobes of the camshaft from severe abnormal wear

What Kev says ^^^
Get a reputable garage to do a simple oil pressure check. I suspect they will find it is low. Usual cause of your symptoms are main and big end bearings wearing out. If that is the case it will just get worse and the light will start to come on more often. The cure is a full strip down and at least new shell bearings, oil pump etc. Sometimes the crank needs to be re-ground. Quite a big job of course but at least on an Aircooled, it is not a huge / risky job.
It's nothing to do with oil leaks.
p.s. = I assume you are using the recommended (15/40 or 20/50) oil ?

Hello,
WHS^^^
If your oil pressure really is low, and you have to use the bus, ....
Put Wynnes oil extender in,,,,
This is a bodge not a fix....
New main bearings, and why not new rings and valve overhaul while you're at it....
Now if you could struggle your way here in the autumn......
Cordialement,

hi,Ghost is spot on,but it may be worth checking the oil pressure relief valve springs length,low oil pressure on a old high mileage engine on TICK OVER is not unusal,not great,but not a massive worry,low pressure on higher revs is a worry.
