I've just driven down to Oswestry for a weeks hols before going to Camperjam. Problem is in the later part of the journey I struggled to select gears particular 1st and 2nd but I had no problems when engine was turned off???

Anyone got any ideas please?

Ive just done a journey of about 120 miles.

Near end I had difficulty in getting van into 1st or 2nd gear when engine running but no problem when engine switched off??

Any ideas??

Worried gear box packing up?

First place to look is clutch, if it's dragging you'll get exactly the problem you're finding.

Id check the oil first as if its low that will give this fault as the box gets hot the gears will get tighter

Thanks guys I'll look at the oil simplest answer.

Hope it's not clutch especially being away.

Anyone in Oswestry area know a good garage?

Could be several things. Sounds like clutch is dragging (not clearing properly and still being driven round when "unclamped") or spigot bearing. Could also be a hydraulic problem on the clutch. Does the pedal feel normal? If so, more likely the spigot bearing.
What engine is in your van?

Also, have you ever checked or changed your gearbox oil ?

I am only a few miles from Oswestry if you need any help.

Just to let you know I got gears fixed today!! It just needed bleeding!! But he said although master head for clutch seemed ok just be aware it could be a sign it may be going.

He was very good figured out why she stalled so easily ..... Cos the choke is knackered.
He was good.

So will have to add that to shopping list for camper jam.

So that's new dash clocks......drivers door card...... Choke................... :ok

Thanks for all your advice.

Thanks folks. Didn't realise this was running on 2threads .

Gears needed bleeding and they been ok since. Will get my local mechanic to check out system when I'm home provided they continue to behave.

He mentioned could be a sign that master cylinder was going but he good guy and charged a very good price!

Thanks ghost123uk for your kind offer of help. Do I take it you going to camper jam? :ok

Glad you got it fixed :)
Couple of things =

First, the Master cylinder also acts as the Master cylinder for the brakes, it is under the pod, behind the speedo. If it is dodgy you could have brake trouble, so I would keep an eye on the fluid level in there and if you do get any more similar problems, get it checked sooner rather than later as we don't want you to bend your van, or you, through a lack of brakes !

Second, if this was a garage that helped you, let us know "who and where" as we ave a list in our "wiki" of garages that are good with T25's and their owners.

Yep I will be there, if you want to say hi, look for the bloke in the white Hi-Top with a mop of scruffy hair and a small white (and very cute) terrier, also with scruffy hair !
