Can you change big ends with heads in place?

Daft question I know but is it possible to split the crank case with the heads on?
I'm 95% sure it can't be possible but I'm wondering if anyone has any dodgy techniques.
Also now the engine is out and stripped to just block and heads can anyone suggest a good garage to take it off my hands and do it for me within 2 weeks?? (I'm in Surrey). I'm fairly handy with a spanner after building a few mini engines but I'm so short of time and it needs to be finished by 18th July for our holidays!!
After reading all the doom and gloom of the water boxers on all the forums I'm kind of getting put off DIY. It should be easy. The engine's only done 27k and still got lovely clean oil and pink antifreeze so I'm hoping all the internal bolts aren't seized. If guessing the bottom end is gone due to some rubbish getting in the oilways from the rebuild. Everything else seems OK.
