Vacant spot for breather hose??

Can anybody enlighten me as to where the circled area on the top of the air cleaner housing should be connected too.
The Haynes manual is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard on this issue, and I cant see an adjoining spare hole for a breather pipe to connect too.
I have been scratching my head for a little while on this one.

I was thinking that.......
Except it just seems odd that it is sized the same as the other connections as if it is meant to have rubber hose attached to it.

hose pipe fits perfect, you want about a foot stick the other end through the gap above the engine rubber seal directley in the middle of the bay

this will get rid of any nasty fumes and smells

That goes into the clean side of the air filter, it should be blanked off and most definitely should not be connected to a hose outside the engine bay area where it will suck in unfiltered air.
From a non UK van I saw I seem to remember it supplies filtered air to the emissions reducing apparatus.

So blanking it off wont reduce or starve anything of air then?.......

Nothing is supposed to go in through that stub, as said above if I recall correctly it
fed filtered air to an emissions control exhaust air system not fitted to UK vans. Whether I remember that right or not, it's the clean side of the filter so should not be connected to any open hoses, the air flow goes from the intake on the right underneath the filter, through the filter to the upper section of the airbox and thence to the carbs. That stub is
above the filter. Connecting it to a hose or breather can only feed unfiltered air into the carb side of the filter.

If it does then the air filter must be epically dirty
