Whats the craic with this then?

I've read the wiki:
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/VW ... headlights" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have the old screw in large bulbs, how do I upgrade to the OSRAM H4s?
Apologies if this is a silly question.

Also, whats the difference between the H4 and H7?? :oops:

There are conversion bulbs out there. But I'm sure H4 is the lense too and not just the bulb.

There are always 2nd hand H4 lamps on ebay

H7 is a totally different unit for newer cars

Confirm. It is the lens and the reflector as well. You need a whole different H4 specific unit. It's plug and play to fit though. I picked up some for £5 each at a show from a breaker.

H4 'has a different beam pattern' ..as described to me by my MOT tester when my van failed in 2010 for having an H4 bulb in the non-H4 lamp assembly

Post up a wanted ad for T25 H4 Round RHD headlamps with non corroded reflectors :ok

H4 lamps have H4 on the lense and they are handed.....ie N/s light and o/s light. Not interchangeable

Or new here for £37 each

Showing out of stock but might be worth double checking at this price.

My mistake. Round headlights are not handed. The brickwerks units come with the mounting plates that are handed

The 'Headlamp' is often seperate from the mounting/adjusting frame, so it's just a matter of turning the plastic mounts through 90 degrees to release them....be careful not to break brittle/aged mounts.
Nevertheless, it should only take 10 - 15 minutes a side.

Fit a pair of Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs at the same time:

Strickly speaking, you should have the headlamp aim adjusted on a 'beam setter' afterwards, although, as long as you keep the adjusters in the same place the aim shouldn't be far out.
