oil pressure on T25 with recon DG engine

I had a rocon engine fitted a few years ago, after a few months of running it the oil pressure warning light, and buzzer came on, as it was a new ish engine I panicked and assumed the oil was low, so topped it up, however it wasn't low so I had to drain some out again, the garage who fitted the engine said it was a faulty sender unit, so fitted a new one, this worked well for a while, then it did it again ?! they fitted another new sender unit, all was well again...........
Then a few months ago it did it again ! I found that if I tapped the dash pod it would stop, this carried on happening until I could take it no more!

The oil levels seemed fine, I took it back to the garage, this time their cure was to disable the buzzer and put a piece of black tape over the light !!!!!!!!! I got the van back with most of the pods lights and instruments not working, I took it back and they sorted some of the issues and that was that. Then a while later the van broke down, it went back to the garage, this time a cam follower had failed, I was told it wasn't connected to the oil pressure alarm which they'd disabled, has anyone else had issues with oil pressure warnings like this ?????? Someone has just told me it could be the wrong oil has been used ????????????? :run

Just booked a neighbours van into garage for oil pressure check. His oil light has started flickering at low revs so we are checking it's not low oil pressure. Probs a cheapo oil switch fitted. Personally I think your garage did a disgusting bodge by disconnecting a major warning sysytem and then effectively telling you/ encouraging you to ignore a warning light! And you can quote me on that!!!

*sigh*
Any time soon there will some idiot along to say you need a oil pressure gauge and that the oil warning system on a t25 is rubbish...... Clearly not the case as all the warnings were there.

Oil warnings should not be dismissed as false alarms !
Flickering oil pressure light is sometimes the sign of lack of enough oil changing and or crap filters.
Always do a oil and filter change firstly, oil is cheap, engines are not

You should always use Mineral 15w/40, (4.5 litres including a filter change).

As Steve say's many folks bury their head in the sand by blaming the sensor(s) and the 'crap' system ..... time usually shows the system was right and the engine has bottom end wear, a knackered oil pump or both.

Wow! So glad I didn't suggest fitting an oil pressure gauge. They will be using a diagnostic one at the garage but thats about it. Incidentally, our local specialist garage uses Millers oil (think that was the name but it was a recommeneded one anyway). A local gob sh!te said it's a waste of money, any oil will do. He had to have his engine rebuilt recently
Mocki: The oil pressure switches. Are they still available as a genuine item from VW?

i seem to remember they are not readily available from VW, but some commercial outlets may still have them, but Simon Bricky Brickwerks has them iirc.
