after a t25 and have 2 options.... not sure which i should go and see as both are miles from me. i know the mpg is roughly the same, what about cruising speed?

From what I understand there's not a lot in it. AAZ has more torque. A good JX is better than a bad AAZ!

Cruising speed greatly depends on gear box ratios.

Then apart from accel not much difference assuming allanciliaries the same. I would look long and hard at the quality of the aaz install. Usual engine tests may help, coolant sniffer diesel compression test emmissions test and the good ol' "get there and drive it" test!

I assume the aaz is quicker accelleration wize?

There is no debate here....AAZ is better But, and here is the question, how well has the conversion to AAZ been done?

There are several owners on here that I know of who's vans have had BAD AAZ conversions leading to lots of money spent putting them right.

Buy on body condition and how well the van has been cared for.....not engine code.

Engines can be swopped out......a bad van can't.

as keith said buy on body condition its easier to do mechanics than bodywork , both engines are vastly underpowered in a heavy t3 camper
