Gearbox drain and fill plugs.....

1980 2.0l Aircooled
Where do you folks get these from?
Tried Listers Cov and they said none available
Just wanted one or two incase
Whats the thread size for a bolt if all fails?

I got mine from vw heritage, but it was for a 5spd water cooled, they may do earlier ones?

I'm sure Aidan will have a few spare ones.. as i'd expect them to be the same...
But why do you think you'll need new ones??
Clean out the socket on it, use the correct tool and make sure its inserted properly.. coz if you do bugger it up you wont be getting it out..
Undo the filler plug first.. you may find you have to put your foot against the end of the spanner or bar to crack it off.. thats pretty normal if its never been undone.. Its a taper therad too, and quite fine so no "off the shelf" bolt will fit..

yes I have lots of preloved ones here along with another 20k worth of gearbox parts, just no Aircooled stuff, but the plugs are the same
