Wild Camping near London

Hi there

Getting itchy feet in between trips, and wanting to try out new BBQ and give the leisure battery a workout.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to wild camp for one night only (probably Saturday) which is:-

1) fairly close to North London
2) ideally (but not necessarily) located next to some water (sea, river or lake)
3) nice and quiet
4) suitable to have a bbq, before sitting back with a few beers and watching the stars
5) probably arrive around 5pm one Saturday and leave by 10am on the Sunday

Thanks

Ian

Try Epping Forest. Have to keep off the beaten track to avoid Police patrols and watch out for travellers and criminals burying their victims :D

Yeah - know it well.

In fact, I was thinking about Connaught Water car park in Chingford.

Does anyone know that lake?

Alternatively, where else in Epping Forest would anyone suggest?

Woodford? Loughton maybe?

Seem to recall a place called High Beach??? Near Loughton.

Also, Pole Hill?? Near Chingford.

Trying to remember from schooldays!!

If anyone has any GPS co-ordinates, that would be great!!

No canine activity though!!!

Thanks

Ian

High Beach would be my guess. Any of the small lanes that lead off around where the visitor centre is.
