Afternoon all,
I currently have a pair of prepped and painted trailing arms ready to be installed (minus the bushes) Does anybody have expereince of fitting these? Looking at the picture they're in one piece, so am assuming even harder to install compared to the rubber kind....?

you may need some more
industrial equipment
E D I T..
The tools needed are vw tools which help push them in properly. If there not put in with lube then they split . Even try taking to VW dealer as they have the proper tools, or find some one on here that has the tools that would be willing to fit them

Righto.
VW may be my next port of call as the responses I've had from two of my local independent garages have been along the lines of "well we have a press... so we can give it a go". Nobody as yet has responded with a more confidece inducing answer!

Pot of vaseline, a piece of threaded bar, a few nuts, washers, big sockets. Can be done at home but its an exercise in patience. I still don't see what would be gained using powerflex bushes on trailing arms other than perhaps longevity but by the time they need replacing, the government will have cleared the roads of T25s through legislation or they will have rusted away anyway.
The stock bushes aren't that expensive. Couple of patient enthusiasts will soon have them in - in between curses and cups of tea.

I was hoping the powerflex bushes would come in two parts to make the job easier... but clearly not...
I've now just managed to fit one standard bush using said method (had to change from 10mm to 12mm threaded bar to give the extra umph). Would be ok but having to do it another 3 times is slightly depressing. Will be visiting my local VW garage tomorrow

Even THEY struggle sometimes but I know what a beef it is getting them in. Worth asking.
