hello

My conversion has no rubber engine mounts so the engine is solid in the bay.

Is this going to be a problem? I used the orignal subaru mount and some custom brackets; can something rubber be put in to stop any future problems?

Go see the SmallCar solution on their webpages - it's a superb solution and re-uses the original WBX engine mounts.

A picture of your installation would probably help us to know whether it should be OK, or not.

ok i looked and there is no rubber on mine at all.

The engine which has the original cross member subaru bar is attached to l shape brakets which are welded onto the bodywork at the sides.

Sounds familiar. I've seen a couple done like that. This puts quite a lot of cantilever stress on the gearbox. Sure I wouldn't want mine in like that.

Are you sure there aren't mounts on the upper side of the engine mount? There should be. They'd be big flat things.

its those L brackets attached to the subaru mounting.

It doesnt move at all when its running and you cant shake it with your hand.

The L-brackets..... sorry, but let's call them what they really are - the bits of angle iron gobbed on your chassis are there to bolt the Subaru cross member to your van. You should find the bonded rubber Subaru mounts sit above the cross member, which is possibly why you can't see them. The engine shouldn't move around too much on these mounts anyway.

To be fair without pictures of what's been done on your conversion I'm scratching around in the dark here. I'm telephonic, not telepathic.

gobbed? is that another term for welding? Your really loosing me now!

What bit shall i take a picture of? the bit near the sump? Or the bit that attaches to the chassis?
