Going to try an give me van a quick blow over for the summer while I save up for a proper job going to use cellulose. Any idea how much paint I need to order please

define 'quick blow over'!?

Well. A very average spray job just to get me through the summer. Not expecting it to look amazing but ok. Couple or three coats I suppose. Never done it before so don't really know

then dont use celly. I grew up with it and yes it has its uses but you will struggle , just get some 2 pack and blow it, but be aware that if i was to look to repair it afterwards then this would increase the price as thge previouse repairs and paint would all have to come off

Fair enough. I just want to cover the primer really as it looks a bit naff. An cant afford proper job just yet

well in that case prep it right and unless its big areas like whoile panals then rattle can it to waterproof the primer or follow covekids lead and roller it

ive just done mine with celly and used about 2 1/2 litres 3 coats everywhere got it from colourweld on a very popular internet bidding site

I am under the impression that isocyanites in 2 pack are not very nice and home spraying with it is frowned upon??

Ive used celly a few times and found it OK for home spraying as you can flat out the orange peel BUT for blowing over it could be a pain cos it reacts with stuff underneath and requires everything to be very clean during prep... ive always had to use a barcoat.

I reckon in this instance rollering rustoleum - or spraying it (check out Vzi for info on spraying it) is maybe the best option if you want it to look nice-ish for minimum beer tokens.

Can you get rustolean in any colour you like. To match my lovely Timor beige

If your's is not a colour that they supply off the shelf, then it can cost upto twice the normal price to be made up as a special.

Standard colours are approx £26 per tin, which should be enough for a quick "roll-over".

aye sorry, yep 2pack not the best for home use std synthetics are fine but you need undercover dust free and not easy to avoid a mass of runs if your not familiar , applies to any paint really. celly is fine but as said it is intollerant of many substrates so now you get involved in sealers etc and after using it as the norm for year and years, it can be a pig, also bear in mind that our vans have often been bodged about by previous owners and painted with everything from masonary paint through dulux through whatever they have got to stick on, this from experience ,
from what i read then, i reckon rustoleum would be your best bet to acheive a presentable van for the least ££

You will need approx three litres of paint, that is one for each side and one for front roof and tailgate.
Try to prepare as well as you can, a good paint job is 70% prep, 20% application and 10% polishing/detailing.
Do it indoors on a dry day (moisture is detrimental to paint).
If you are stook for space consider masking of and spraying the roof first, then mask of and spray one side followed by the other and so on ( if you are a novice this will help to achieve a better finish because you can concentrate on a smaller area at a time).
Always follow the advice for mixing ratios printed on the paint containers, always wear a mask, and do not rush!
