old to new clocks...

guys,

I have a 1980 Aircooled 2l t25 (lhd) and want to swap the kmh speedo for mph (assume would be from a rhd)

I'm told that mph just connect fine as the speedo dictates whether kmh or mph is shown?

Somebody did tell me that there may be a connection issue as later models have a right angled speedo cable fitting and earlier models horizontal.

Can anyone clear this up for me please?

cheers,

neil

from my understanding the earlier speedo cables (up to around '84/'85) were screw fit, whereas later were a push on fitting.
Could be getting this wrong, but I don't think they are compatible.
hope this helps :ok

As he said...make sure the speedo drive fitting is the same....but also check the number at the bottom of the clock is the same (mine is 805) below the trip re-set on later vans although yours probably won't have a trip meter.
