ignition switch barrel removal on T25

My van was stolen some time ago and I am getting around to sorting it out.
The thief hot wired it and damaged the lock and now it won't turn past the on position.
I have bought a new switch part (white nylon assembly) but there are problems with the steering lock part where it was forced.
I have removed the die cast assembly from the steering column and also removed the electrical switch but can't see how to remove the key mechanism part from the die cast assembly. Can anyone help with this please.
If it is beyond repair where can I get the complete die cast part with barrel and keys?

Welcome to the forums, I too have recently experienced similar. I think what is stopping you removing that final part is sheer bolts. You will need to remove those. If you have a dremel type tool, you can cut slots in them to then allow you to use a large screwdriver.

I have to do similar, as my steering lock is not working now.

It's in the Bentley manual and Hynes as well I would imagine. You have to drill a 3mm access hole in a particular spot, then you can push on a spring retaining clip to release the barrel. The manual has a nice illustration.

Any chance you could post the details of the hole position as I don't have a manual?

Thanks for the links, I dismantled it this evening and managed to unjam the steering lock which was distorted so it's all working again.
One thing puzzles me, the thief had hot wired the ignition and drove it away but how did he manage to get the plunger in the steering lock to retract and stay back? The casting was still bolted to the column securely and the key mechanism was not damaged :?:

Another quickie What is the Bentley manual and where can I buy it?

Glad you got it sorted, and I too would like to know how this happened on mine too. Probably not something that should be posted on an open forums though.

As to the manual, they are not cheap, but here's a link..

You can get it on DVD from various sources for much cheaper, usually on eBay. Also search ETKA.
