Evening, does anyone know a good syncro mechanic in Essex/London region we've got a few things that need doing and don't really want to take the van all the way to Devon or Scotland but if needs must we will, thanks Allison

What sort of work do you want done?

Please put your (approx.) location in your profile, it helps, ta!

Sorry based near Chelmsford in Essex, don't know how to update my profile, I know doh! lol
Looking to get engine box out as push rod seals replacing, some bolts that sheared off on chassis that hold gear box up need sortingmore, and fuel tank straps need replacing,
have been in touch with guys in Devon (Syncrospares?) but little a more local would be easier, mind if we wanted simple we wouldn't have bought a syncro! lol :D

Hello Alison

Nice to know there is someone else in Chelmsford with a Syncro. I am afraid i can’t help though; it is my experience that it is worth travelling for a well trusted person. I have to say the only person during my wildly expensive foray into Syncros that i have really been 100% happy with has been Brickwerks. But it is a fair old jaunt (3 hours or so) and he is generally booked up for a long time, but then if you are good you are in demand....

Nice area of the world though - link it in with a holiday?
:ok

Evening Guzzi, ok my posts are pretty much done for my husband and he wants to kmow What type of Guzzi you own, hes a fellow Guzzitsi! and yes you're probably rite worth the drive if the job gets done properly, hes thinking of taking the crewcab towing the trailer and riding the bike back, thats even better as I can work! lol. Where in Essex are you based

I’m in Chelmsford too, i never thought about getting the Syncro to tow the bike up and then riding it back - that’s a good idea, mind you i would have to buy a trailer first!

I have a Grisso (not an obvious choice and a bit of a "marmite" bike form what i can make out, i like though, and not having a fairing means its a bit self limiting re sustained top speed!

:ok

Or try Duncan's garage in byfleet, bit of a trek for you, but train station 5 mins walk to get home. Adrian owns a Doka syncro and always has plenty of vdubs around

Big trip & I've never used them but had a good chat with someone who uses Syncrospares (NorthDevon).
He is very happy with them & said they were more than willing to let him work alongside their mechanics.
Said he was impressed with their knowledge, very helpful & learnt alot from them. He left knowing how the syncro worked & how it was put together.
He was working on camper & slept over in van.

Also there's Dave down here in South Devon (Futbus) but again big trip.

Thought I'd mention a recommendation I heard first-hand.
Also helps to give balance to some of comments that get posted on here.
