stutter has come back :)
driving along all good -
every few minutes... no matter what the speed or gear I'm in the van momentarily hiccups then drives well again then hiccups then drives well for a few miles... then hiccups then .... etc etc... doesn't matter whether engine warm or cold or speed slow or fast...
to date -
renewed fuel filter - air filter - spark plug leads - distributor cap - spark plugs - ignition module on l/h side of engine bay - fuel pump and rod (though didn't pack with grease) - checked ignition timing - fine - new coil - renewed vacuum hoses - had a spray around with carb cleaner and cleaned out main jet - spray round hoses in engine bay to see if engine speed changed - all to no avail -
now in chin stroking - what next? mode -
any ideas good people?

Is your exhaust blowing at all?

Clean the copper contacts in the dizzy cap, and scrape/clean the copper connecter on the rotor arm too.

Pack the fuel pump base with grease, that's not the problem here though methinks.

Any pattern on when it does it ? Mostly when hot or cold ? Did you clean out the carb filter as well as replacing the inline petrol filter ? Have you checked the filler neck for leaks ? You could be getting water in the tank that way ?

Ian.
