Hi,
I have an 86 t25 1.6td JX
I was faffing around trying to fit a fridge relay but no my alternator output only reads 12.3v
I take it I`ve buggered the Brush/reg/rectifier pack?
I replace the pack about 2yrs ago so I have no numbers on alt or reg to cross ref, I`m sure its a bosch but are all the regs the same?
Its a converted van so I`m assuming its a 65A alt.
I`ve seen them on ebay for £10ish so If all fails I might just buy one and see if it works

You local motor factors will get you the correct regulator if you tell them the model number of the alternator
can changing a relay bugger up an alternator?

I'm not sure, I attached the relay onto the blue wire (which had a scotch connector on, I have removed the connector.
Does the alt pump out 14v constantly or does it drop to 12v once fully charged? If so which wire is the sense wire, my loom has been butchered previously and I'm fixing the wires when I find them.

Ok I fitted a new regulator but still no 14v.

Blue - batt light
Green (not attached) - rev counter w terminal
Red/black - alternator feedback from + battery terminal.

Alternator should send out between 13.6 to 14 volts all the time, regardless of battery charge state.
Wiring is as you say above.

IF your wiring is new. Anything around 13.2 and above from ancient wiring

Ok, I purchased an alternator of fleabay, advertised as diesel one but connections are different. Mine has 2x spade terminals w term (green) and feedback (red/black) and a 13mm nut for +ve o/p and 1x 7mm-ish for alt light (blue)
Can this alt fit or is it a petrol one?
If it will fit what are the connections?
Thanks

That looks same as mine ( 1.6D ) - its a pre 1986 bosch with spade terminals - only thing I cant see from your pic is if there is a W spade connection which should be in bottom half of your picture. the three spades terminals together are your bat and dash light connector - the little spade terminal to the left of them - on mine marked + doesnt get connected. The W terminal if it has one should connect to a black wire that is part of the high oil pressure monitoring system if you have that.
