Syncro 16" OG spare wheel carrier - remade latch

My van came without the latch, so for three years I've been driving it around fearing the carrier would swing open. Last year I was kindly lent an original latch for me to copy. 12 months later it happened.
OG latch at top and remade one at bottom, fitted to bracket.

Fella at my work in the company's workshop didn't like the VW spring arrangement, so did it his way.

New latch holding carrier safely.

I'll leave it shiny for a while so I can admire it, then paint it black to match the rest.
Oh, and got my lockers working again. The braided hose onto both points on the front actuator had perished so vacuum not being held. My local motor factors which had been in business for decades and run by two increasingly grizzled chaps has changed hands instead of closing down, and had the hose in stock. Hurray for Millards Motor Accessories on Gloucester Road.
