No oil pressure switch!

i all,

I cannot find my oil pressure switch!

I have a 1600CT ac engine. The oil light has never worked and so I thought I'd better fix it. The blue wire that goes to the switch was earthed to the engine block. I cleaned it up and now have a nice light on the dash that doesn't go out. (Pic 1).

Looking at Mr Haynes manual it seems that on this engine the switch was on the top of the oil cooler. There is no such switch on my engine (pic2).

He is an example of what it should look like on another CT engine.

Has anyone any theories as to why my engine doesn't appear to have an oil pressure switch even though the wiring is in place. Could the switch be somewhere else on the engine that I haven't looked?

Thanks for any help.

Paul.

Looks like someone has replaced it with a type 1 engine oil cooler.

Thanks for the starting point - I should have known it was going to get complicated.

Having googled oil coolers for the Aircooled engines they seem to say that there are four different types.

I need a type 3 apparently. Hens teeth by the sounds of it, which will probably explain why it has been converted.

I guess that I'll have to live with no switch (Not had one for over a year), and keep my eyes open for one.

Anyone any ideas if an oil pressure switch can be mounted anywhere else.

Paul.
