Thinking of having our Westy re-sprayed from vw beige/bronze to something brighter.
Question is ..... how much should i be paying for prep and full respray in a non metallalic
colour ?

Seriouly it's the same as How long is a piece of string?

Each van is different and has various degrees of rust and differing levels of crusty seams to fix before re-spraying.

Have you had any quotes?

Ever considered the DIY roller method? Could save you ££££'s

Start at 2K (windows in) and go up.

Been quoted £1500 . Was trying to get the missus to do it with a roller
but as i got her to do our narrowboat last year, I
think i might be pushing it a bit ;-)

I think that now she has the experience she is obliged to give a whirl.

If it involves 'a proper job' involving taking doors and windows off, shot blasting, replacing knackered panels, sorting out seams and dealing with previosly hidden nasties plus re-spray, the going rate seems to be £3000+.
:)

£1500 quid would be about the price for a windows in job. Although it all depends on what is hiding/lurking under the paint and in the seams. It is the same as everything if you have a good base you will get a good finish. It all depends on what remedial work is required. A proper job your looking about 3k +.

Jim :ok

Why would you want to do that? Bronze beige metallic has to be one of the best colours. When new you would have had to pay extra for that colour.

Is yours a jubilee joker?

That's a jubilee joker you have there and it still has the gold grill. You would ruin it if you painted anything other than L8HU.

I really hate that grill but we have decided to keep the original colour. What is the relevance of the Jubilee Joker??
It only has stickers on one side and they have seen better days. So that makes its look a bit odd

Have a read here

http://www.westfaliat3.info/html/westfa ... ion_j.html

If you don't like the grill, change it, but keep hold of it.

Does it have the 1.9 GW engine?

If the paint was tip top it would look lovely. :ok

Give Iain a shout at http://www.ikustoms.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. He's a VW specialist and work is spot on. He's got my van at the mo for some rust remedy action.
