Devon is a very large county. Are you talking about the large Haven Holidays site near Littleham Cross, Exmouth? (Formerly known as Sandy Bay Holiday Park).

In terms of "parking up and enjoying what's there" you can't go too far wrong around Exmouth...plenty of cycle friendly routes etc (google Devon cycling for leaflets and guides etc).
If the weather isn't special, then your kids will probably like "Crealy Adventure Park" which is on the Exmouth/Sidmouth side of Exeter (my kids are 6 and 7 now but have had yearly passes for the last couple of years as we go so often.)
PM me if you have any particular venues/ideas in mind and want a local opinion

There is a great cycle track along the Exeter canal, starting in exeter at the quay, it follows the exeter ship canal for 5 or 6 miles and ends at a lovely pub at a place called turf lock. It's flat easy cycling and good scenery.

Had a static van on Devon Cliffs for 14 years until last year. Yes there are lots of superb places around there but the one that I definitely recommend, and that we visited several times each year was Bicton Gardens. A botanical garden that is just 8 miles from the campsite and is a beautiful haven of peace. I often walked there and back to make an enjoyable day of it. Be sure to visit their Hermitage.

Have a nice time - the worst of the weather came through overnight and there is some talk of sun by this afternoon! Anyway the SW is the place to be for the next 48 hours while the wet and windy stuff works its way up country.
Have a safe drive over!

thanks all, we made it safe and sound, if a little battered on the way down . windy was not the word.
fully loaded , plus bikes and im still on my first tank , just over 280 miles now , not bad for a 2.1dj .
we are planning on going to bicton gardens, just trying to guess the best day . spent today on the beach, and i took my small bucket bbq , for a sausage sandwich lunch .
